October Virtual General Meeting
The September Virtual General Meeting was a great success. Although we could not hug people, we did see old friends and meet new friends. We had a chance to go into “break out rooms” for smaller group discussions.
Our October General Meeting will be a virtual meeting on Zoom on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm. We will have a guest speaker and small group discussions. It is open to members and potential members.
If you are not yet a member, please fill in the form on Contact Us on the menu bar. Request a link to the Zoom meeting or ask questions about joining.
Current members will receive a link to the Zoom meeting in your inbox before the meeting. If you do not receive the link by email, please contact us at [email protected]

October Message from the President
We are well into fall now, and I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler evenings and still warm days of October. This is a favorite season for many of us. The cooler weather is invigorating, and we feel energized to get all sorts of things done.
If you aren’t feeling this way, but dreading the winter under pandemic rules, please know that you aren’t alone. Many people hit a wall about 6+ months into a crisis. We no longer feel that it will be over soon and can’t predict when things will be more normal, which feels really drags at our spirits. Be kind to yourself, get outside to exercise every day, preferably in greenspace or by the ocean (or both) and connect with your people in person when possible, virtually when not.
Here in the valley, there is much to celebrate. The farm stands are open and full of harvest vegetables, including heirloom pumpkins, apples, and more squash varieties that anyone knew existed. Exploring the island campgrounds is still possible. Outdoor patios at the restaurants can be enjoyed. The food trucks are still at the marina. Trails and beaches are open all year.
It was so good to see those who were able to make the meetings at 40 Knots Winery. A big thank you to Lori Novak and 40 Knots, who made that possible. We will be looking at having another meeting there in spring, assuming that we are still under the PHO protocols. In the meantime, we will be meeting virtually. Our general meeting is on October 13 at 7 pm. I hope to see everyone there.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the activities, please consider doing so. The book clubs are meeting regularly. The Décor Group has recently begun and has a full slate of activities in the next months. The Garden Group’s first activity is this week, and I’m sure those who signed up are in for a treat. Everyone is enjoying the various walks, hikes, and bike rides. Check in to the website regularly for updates. There is lots of planning occurring behind the scenes.
Take care. Stay well. Be so gentle with yourselves.
